Upcoming Blogoversary and a Smattering of Stitching.

September is here, and I feel the slight change in the weather already.  Usually in September, I tend to feel very excited for the upcoming school year. Although I am still a bit excited, I am also a bit worried and perplexed as to what to do. Our teachers in my province are beginning the phase 1 of our strike.  I have mixed emotions about this.  On one hand I fully stand by the union, however, I also am not in any position to not work.  I was just applying to various school districts today, when I realized, hey, we can't communicate with vp's or principals, so why am I even bothering to apply?!? I know I need to clarify this with our union rep, but it's filling me with some anxiety.  I shouldn't get into this here for it's very complicated.
Aside from school and searching for full time work, I have had a very busy couple of days.  My sister and my brother, with their significant others, stayed with me for a few days although not at the same time.  I had a lovely time with them both, and enjoyed the time spent with my younger siblings.  Now I am a bit tired and eager to get to stitching, since I neglected it for a few days!

Also, I realized my first blogoversary is coming up!! Wow, a year in blogging! I have come far in the bonny land of stitching blogs and have loved meeting new and fascinating people over the year.  I am thinking of a giveaway, but I need to mull over what to giveaway and what to make for the winner.  Let me think on it for a bit, and I will post in a couple of days.  This maybe a belated giveaway, but I will have one!!
Thank you again for all your lovely comments and exclamations of "YOU ARE CRAZY TO DO 1 OVER 1!!!" Indeed I am, but it will pay off in the end when I can stand back and think "I WAS OUT OF MY MIND!!" yet being pleased as punch that I was nuts!!!
Cat card from Teresa
The cat card came from Teresa the other day and it really made my day.  It was so thoughtful of her to send me a little card and some of the beads for Shepherds Bush's Tiny Garden Fob.  I love it! I've ordered the threads for the chart, so hopefully it will come soon!!

Happy Stitching!!

Your HAED is looking lovely already. And you're right. It doesn't matter if it's huge or not. If you're having fun stitching it, that's all that count. Plus you will be rightfully very proud of yourself once you finish it.
Love your other wips too, especially Elizabeth.

Urgh, good luck with the teaching/union/school stuff. It sounds like a tangled mess. :P

Your WIPs look great! I give you serious props for stitching over one voluntarily... I do it here and there on samplers that I can't pass up despite the over one. I've learned to not hate it with intensity but still--agh. Like you said, though, you will have a masterpiece when it's completed!

One year of blogging--you go girl!

Have a great weekend!

I love your blog, is't great!! Congrats on nearly a year. Do you ever read back your oldest posts? I laughed when I read back some of mine.

We have a very active union here, but its difficult sometimes to decide what to do for the best. A days pay matters a great deal for me too. It's basically all my stitching money as the bills need paying, strike or not. I don't envy your position. (hugs)

What a cute card, and happy early blogoversary. I love the progress you're showing, especially that gorgeous opalescent fabby. It's wonderful. Here's hoping your union rep can help you get things sorted out. My dad was union for all the years that he worked, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 212. He found a lot of support and help from his union brothers. Maybe your fellow union members would be able to help you decide what to do!! Good luck!!!

I hope the strike gets resolved quickly, Anne--that must be so frustrating for both sides!

All of your WIPs are so pretty! Yes, you will be extremely proud and pleased with your over one finish--can't wait to see it :)

Happy one year of blogging, too--here's to many more!

One year of blogging, woo hoo! Congratulations!
I sure hope that strike is resolved soon for your sake. It makes it really difficult when you're job hunting.
Your WIP look great Anne! If you are comfortable doing your HAED over 1 then that's all that matters. It will be quite an achievement that you can proudly display!

Wow, nearly a year of blogging, that's a cause for celebration!
If you can't contact head teachers, can you contact the office staff instead? Not sure how it works overseas. The heads are most likely in total agreement with the staff but can't say so in public so they will be sympathetic.
Good luck with the job-seeking anyway xx

Good luck, Anne, with the job hunting. I know that when I was a teacher I always felt very torn about going on strike when the union called one - I believe that we have the right to strike but when you have senior students with exams coming up - you feel ambivalent.

The stitching is looking very pretty.

Re "The Wire" takes a bit of getting into but is worth it.

The frogging was a nuisance but worth it to get it all right in the end.
Take care
cheers, Kaye xoxox
